The whole rifle. Well, it was basically a .30-30 with a special ring so that you could "throw it down" towards the ground (swivel it) and when it came back up, it was cocked. Probably nobody even noticed that with this configuration on the cocking handle, it would also go off immediately. Sort of like most people don't know that gunslingers only had 5 bullets in their 6-shooters. Unless you wanted to shoot yourself in the foot when you hit a bump. Photo thanks to Mike Tilbrook |
