Here we can see the breakdown from the left side
of this immaculate Cap Gun from the classic cast-iron era of cap
pistols. There is the oil hole again! Considering that these things were cast-iron, wouldn't it have made a lot of sense to oil the whole thing to keep it from rusting? Cast-iron skillets would rust. Except for my grandmother's, as it was always baking cornbread. The older (and greasier) it got, the better the cornbread tasted.
