It is commonly referred to as the chrome-plated 3rd variation with the plain non-notched cylinder, The 1st variation is nickel-plated with a NOTCHED cylinder that comes in a two-piece box. The 2nd variation is also nickel-plated, that comes in the one-piece box. It is one of the nicest and most complete of this variation that I have seen in many years. The STALLION 45 is referred to as the GRANDFATHER of all cap guns. It was the "Toy Of The Year" at the World Toy Fair in 1950 in New York City. It is a high-quality cap gun which has the same size and feel as the real Colt SINGLE ACTION ARMY revolver. This was an awesome cap gun for any child during the late 1950's and early 1960's and if you were lucky enough to own one you were the King of the Neighborhood. It comes complete with all six (6) original two-piece bullets and original brochure, outlining the directions, care, and service policy for the STALLION 45. Lewis Nichols, one of the two brothers who were the owners, personally handled all of the service. The translucent white grips are beautiful, flawless, and mint in condition. It functions as it should with a strong snap to the hammer and rotates the cylinder with each pull of the trigger. There are no chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs to the grips or frame of the cap gun. Nickel Finish MATT DILLON 45 by HALCO MINT UNFIRED - HTF This is an AWESOME and VERY HARD TO FIND MATT DILLON 45 by HALCO. It is the variation with the side latch and comes in the nickel finish. This variation cap gun has EARS/TIPs on the top of the cylinder frame just in front of the hammer which can break-off if the gun is fired without the bullets placed in the cylinder. As you can see in the photos these EARS/TIPS are secure and present. It is a large frame, rotating cylinder cap gun that uses one piece toy bullets that accept round caps. It is 10-1/2 inches long and has very realistic looks. It is marked MATT DILLON 45 on each side of the frame which was inspired by the very popular TV Series GUNSMOKE starring James Arness as Sheriff MATT DILLON. The show ran from 1955 thru 1975. Any HALCO 45 cap gun is very desirable and highly sought after by collectors and any of the HALCO 45's are some of my favorite cap guns. The cap gun is in MINT Unfired condition and comes with a full cylinder of original bronze toy bullets and has one of the smoothest actions that I have seen in quite a while. When closed there is no drooping of the barrel, is very tight, and squares-up to the cylinder frame indicating that there was very little playing or handling of this cap gun. The grips are simulated Stag Horn. It functions as it should with a strong snap to the hammer with the action being very smooth as it rotates the cylinder with each pull of the trigger or hammer.
